The Start of a New Journey

Hello readers,

I am starting this blog as a project for my IS 101 class. This is my first semester in college making me a first generation student in my family. I have gotten through the first week and it has been amazing. I have to admit, the first day I panicked but now I am back on track. I am glad to say it seems that the teachers I have met truly do care about their students. I cant wait to see what's in store for me on this journey.

  5. I was also a first generation college student when I first attended UNLV for my bachelors. Your family must be so proud of you. I wish you the best of luck this semester.

  6. Anthony,

I can pull two similarities from your posting: (1) We are both first-generation college students. We are both making our families proud; so whenever you step on campus or feel like giving up, just remind yourself that you can do it and you’re making your family proud. (2) I also panicked on my first day, especially by attending two different higher-ed institutions. I, for one, did not know even where to begin on my coursework, but after completing my planner with due dates. I am prepared to tackle this semester- although not on the pace I would prefer since there’s so much work, I am positive in my ability to get my work done while balancing work, life, and school.

  7. I have encountered the same attitude from all of my teachers at CSN. It seems like my experience here at CSN has been more positive then at UNLV. I can attest that Mr. Wu is by far one of the best instructors I've had based off these first few weeks. Keep up the hard work and don't quit, we're all here to help each other learn and grow.

  8. Congratulations on becoming a college student and specially becoming a 1st generation college student. CSN definitely appears to be a well conducted institution of higher education. Best of wishes to your college career.

  11. Hello Anthony, I'm glad to see that both of us made it through the stress of starting class, I can relate. Even though we made it in doesn't mean we are in the clear yet though. It's going to be a lot of work, but we got this! Good luck!
